Meet the Tamworths

Tamworth Pedigree Breed

The Tamworth pig originated in Ireland where they were known as "The Irish Grazer". In 1812, Sir Robert Peel so impressed by their traits imported and bred some on his estate in Staffordshire. Over the next 30 years the breed improved and achieved their own classification at The English Royal Show in 1865.

The modern day Tamworth is a robust, active pig listed as an endangered rare breed. Famous for their red coats and striking features, Tamworths make excellent mothers and prefer outdoor living. Their lifestyle, temperament and lean body type make the Tamworth pig an unrivalled breed providing high quality meat, ham and particularly bacon.
